Geriatric Nurses
Position Overview
A Geriatric Nurse have to be specialized in providing comprehensive care to elderly patients, focusing on their unique health needs and promoting their overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for elderly patients with chronic illnesses and age-related conditions.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Monitor patients' health status, including vital signs, medication management, and response to treatments.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding aging, health management, and available resources.
- Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and mobility, ensuring the dignity and comfort of patients.
- Advocate for the needs and preferences of elderly patients, promoting their autonomy and quality of life.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of geriatric care protocols and policies.
- Stay current with advancements in geriatric nursing practices, technologies, and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent; certification in geriatric nursing is preferred.
- Valid nursing license to practice in Germany.
- Previous experience in geriatric nursing or a related field is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in German and English (both written and spoken).
